We slept a little later this morning and checked out of the hotel planning to drive to Butchart Gardens on our way to catch the ferry back to Vancouver.
The GPS guided us to the gardens where a sign informed us that the entry fee to the gardens was $35! We very quickly decided that we weren't that keen on looking at gardens, so simply did a U-turn in the carpark and reset the GPS for Sidney, a seaside town on the way to the ferry port.
Sidney was delightful. After a delicious breakfast in a coffee shop we enjoyed a stroll along the waterfront. The marina contained hundreds of sailing boats, although no boats seemed to be out enjoying the magnificent day on the water.
We then wandered along the streets and each of us managed to boost Sidney's economy with a purchase.
We were killing time before we were due at the dock at 2.00pm for the 3.00pm ferry. However, as we rolled up to the ticket box, we realised that the voucher actually had us on the 1.00pm ferry!! Eeeeek!
It seems that stuff ups like that don't tend to bother Canadians. The ticket lady was very happy to process our voucher for the 3.00pm ferry without any drama at all. Phew!
So now we sit in the boarding queue, waiting to board the ferry to travel back to Vancouver.
