Today was our first real day of this adventure. We slept late, a little jetlagged after yesterday's marathon flights.
The weather is quite warm and fine, even sunny! The hotel provides a shuttle to downtown so we headed to the Visitors Centre for advice.
From there it was another free shuttle to the Alaska Heritage Center where we learned so much about native Alaskan tribes and their way of life in the extreme weather conditions of Alaska.
We returned downtown to explore the shops before boarding a trolley tour that took us to Earthquake Park and then to Lake Hood, which is the floatplane base/field for hundreds and hundreds of float planes
Dinner tonight was at Orso, a delightful restaurant downtown.
The shuttle brought us back to the hotel where we thought we'd like a cup of tea. Last night's 'cookies' were all gone, so the chef baked us a fresh batch whilst we enjoyed time sitting in the lobby lounge. It would be amazing in winter, surrounded by snow with a blazing fire.
Not ready to retire to our room we booked the hotel shuttle to take us back to Walmart for a late night shop. We had to be quick as the shuttle ceases pickups at 10.00pm.
Now we're back in the room, pleased with our day's efforts and looking forward to another day in Anchorage tomorrow.
