Today the rain has caught up with us again. We left Revelstoke in rain and drove to Kelowna, via Vernon, while the rain continued.
The scenery has changed to rolling pastures dotted with grazing cattle, crops, logging areas and far less mountains.
On arrival at Kelowna, the GPS directed us straight to the B&B we'd booked. We were a little concerned that the location seemed to be in the midst of an industrial area, although there are streets of single storey budget homes.
The B&B hosts were surprised to see us and thought that the triple share they were expecting had actually stayed the previous night! We had a look at the room/s, which are essentially a 3brm self contained flat below the house. After some initial hesitation, we decided to stay and brought our bags inside.
It's really quite cosy and the hosts are friendly.
This afternoon we drove to the home of an internationally famous sculptor and artist, Geert Maas. His wife was extremely welcoming and showed us through the gallery at their home. The yard is also filled with enormous sculptures, one of which we recognised from a park we had visited at Kamloops. The artist came downstairs to meet us; he and his wife were delightful.
We drove into town to walk through the waterfront park adjacent to the harbour, in which hundreds of boats and a couple of float planes were moored.
Dinner tonight was at Hanna's at Rose's Pub, a tasty roast beef and veggies.
The GPS directed us back to the B&B and we are now snuggled up in our apartment.
