Although we slept a little late we made it to breakfast on Deck 14 with a view out to a fine day!
Most shipboard activities are not happening today as we sail into Glacier Bay. This is where whales ard often sighted. Although we looked and looked we didn't see any marine life at all.
In fine but cool weather the ship sailed through Glacier Bay up to Johns Hopkins Glacier. We were able to view the enormous glacier and plenty of floating ice as tgd Captain once again expertly positioned the boat for optimum viewing.
From there we sailed up the next arm of the bay to view Margerie Glacier. By now the sun was shining, although the wind was icy! We spent over an hour watching and waiting as tge glacier's ice cracked and rumbled like thunder. Eventually we were treated with the sight of the glacier calving (ice chunks falling off into the sea). It was exciting to watch and worth the wait.
Luckily the ice viewing ended just in time for the Cocktails Happy Hour. Mai Tais, Citrus Margaritas and Paradise Punch!
It was Italian night in thr restaurant which was delicious. We had to race from there to the theatre for the magician's show and then it was off to bed for an early start tomorrow as we dock in our first port of call, Skagway.
