Today's weather was much brighter. There was a fog but evidence of blue skies above. The car's temperature said it was 2°C outside for most of the day!
We drove through some incredible country today. We were in a perpetual state of awe and wonder from the time we left Jasper.
We encountered more elk, up close and personal as we left Jasper. It's funny how cars just stop to take photos!
The scenery after leaving Jasper was jaw dropping! Incredible mountains, covered in snow and ice, looking very much like the chocolate ripple cake Elaine makes. As we were driving, snow was falling, dusting the pine trees with a light powdery coating.
Our first stop was Athabasca Falls. It was freezing cold but the power of the water through the falls was incredible.
From there we journeyed on to the Athabasca Glacier. Wow! It's a well oiled operation, with thousands of tourists passing through.
We had time for lunch before boarding the coach to take us to the 6WD ice explorer that would take us out onto the Athabasca Glacier. Wow!
We spent time wandering around on the glacier, marvelling at the incredible views in freezing temperatures.
Back in our own vehicle we headed towards Lake Louise.
The views along the way were incredible. Huge glaciers between enormous mountains, with snow covered pine trees lining the road. Swift flowing creeks and rivers gave way to picturesque lakes time after time.
Wow! Awesome! Incredible!
